Having your child taken into hospital for surgery is a very stressful time. |Explain clearly what is going to happen is very difficult.

Possible problems that may occur are

  • Separating from the parents
  • Different environment
  • Break from the normal routine
  • Sleep patterns interrupted

How do you prepare your baby for surgery?

  • Keep the child/baby as calm as possible
  • Make sure a least one parent will be there when then come round from the operation.
  • Make sure you as there parent remain calm. If there is any tension your child/baby will pick this up.
  • Make plans for after the child gets out – like day trip or favourite thing.
